// Volunteer with KAYA

Your time is valuable and you want to spend your time doing something meaningful and rewarding.

We feel the same way. Our kind of work takes creativity, coordination, tech savvy, and enthusiasm for making a difference.  With a volunteer organization like KAYA, that can be a lot of boots on the ground.

We work hard but we’re smart, organized, and committed.  We do it because it means something to us and there’s a need in the community.

And the best thing about it is…we are getting things done and we are being heard.

Will YOU join the movement?

Get training from community leaders and an insider’s view (and experience!) of grassroots community organizing. Whatever your interest—policy, communications, field, nonprofit development—we could use your smarts.

Contact the National KAYA Leadership team or a local chapter to find out how you can be a part of KAYA’s mission.

Join your local chapter and complete this short online form to provide us with your contact info and some details about your interests.

Make an impact

Volunteer your time and talent to build KAYA’s capacity. Have fun while making an impact and work with a great team.

  • Precinct coordinators/ volunteers – KAYA is assisting a number of campaigns for our endorsed candidates and we welcome volunteers who can join our field team and assist with helping out at precincts on certain days (to be determined).
  • Local Communications Coordinators – These volunteers would assist with coordinating communications/PR/marketing for certain projects in partnership with the Communications Team. (knowledge of WordPress and e-newsletter programs like Constant Contact a plus)
  • Newsletter coordinator – Assist in laying out and formatting the e-newsletter. We have the text,  it is just that the formatting, linking, and adding images can take some time. (Knowledge of Constant Contact or other e-newsletter application a plus but will train).
  • Creative Coordinator – Assist in laying out art and copy for flyers, brochures, postcards as needed for selected campaigns and projects. (Knowledge of In Design or other desktop publishing software a plus)
  • Multimedia Coordinator – Help manage and create quality KAYA film, video, or sound (YouTube/Vimeo/podcasting) pieces. (Knowledge of video editing software a plus)
  • Web developer – The communications team knows their way around WordPress pretty well, but sometimes we need to tweak or add things to the web site and it may beyond our technical skill. This is where the web developer comes in.
  • Historian - Work with Communications Team to documenting/archiving all KAYA materials for future generations and future communications.

Other important info:

  • You can work remotely for most of these opportunities. We will train.
  • Weekly time commitment depends on project, but expect maybe 2 hours per week. We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum period of 3 months.
